Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Public liability covers injury or property damage you cause to others in the course of your work, for example a member of staff who trips over your equipment during a workshop. Professional indemnity covers purely financial loss caused by your professional advice or services, for example a strategy a client says was built on a miscalculation and cost them money. Note that promising or guaranteeing results, such as yields or profitability, is excluded, so keep your proposals and marketing realistic. Most consultants combine the two.
Public Liability isn't always required by law in Ireland. In practice, though, it's often effectively required: clients write it into contracts, landlords and venues ask for proof before you work on their premises, event organisers and market operators make it a condition of a stand, and many local-authority permits expect it. So while you can trade without it, a lot of work simply won't be open to you unless you can show you're covered, which is why it's one of the first policies most business owners take out.
From €10.80/month. You may pay more for a very high cover amount or high turnover. Premium depends on your profession, annual revenue, the cover amount and your chosen excess. With Insify you arrange it yourself, no broker, no advice fees, online in about 2 minutes.
Your excess is the amount you pay yourself towards a claim before your insurance covers the rest. For example, on a €3,000 claim with a €250 excess, you pay €250 and Insify covers €2,750. You choose it when you apply, and it applies per claim. The options are €0, €250, €500, €1,000 and €2,500, with €0 and €250 available to smaller businesses (annual revenue up to €500,000; above that the minimum is €500).
Yes. You tell us about your work and we build cover around your real activities, so you're not paying for things you'll never need, and you're not left short on the things you do.
You pick your start date when you take out the policy, and it can begin the same day if you need it. From there it runs on a rolling monthly basis with no fixed end date: it simply continues until you cancel, which you can do any day. Because the cover works on an occurrence basis, any incident that happens while you're insured stays covered, even if the claim only comes in later. Claims need to reach us within five years of your cover ending.

The cover itself was sorted quickly, and when I later needed support I got that fast too.
